My name is Brooke Rutherford. I am married to my high school sweetheart that I have known since elementary school. We were both big into sports in high school so we didn’t start talking until after prom of senior year when both of our sports were over.
That summer Clay was sent to West Point for basic training so we learned the sacrifice of separation early and our relationship has only grown stronger because of it. I had a scholarship to go play lacrosse for Converse College in SC and Clay received a football scholarship to play for the United States Military Academy. We endured 5 long years of dating and finally tied the knot in June of 2014.
After our wedding the Army took us to Oklahoma where we are currently living. Since our adventure out west we have added a crazy German Shepherd named Luna to our family followed by our two beautiful babies Luke and Lily.
Clay is currently deployed until July of 2017 so our family decided to come home to GA so that the kids could spend time with both of our families and so I could have a chance to coach lacrosse again. This time has been fun, fast, stressful, sad, joyful, hilarious and memorable.
This blog is mainly for me to document our life and adventures not only for us to look back on but so my husband can see what we are going through while he is away. We want to do everything we can to make him feel like he is still with us from half away around the world.
I hope you guys enjoy this journey with us.
